Snowboarding Holidays

While skiing is the definitive snow sport of yesterday, snowboarding is the sport of today. Even seasoned skiers who originally swore they would never trade up to a board, can now be seen on the slopes weaving expertly from left to right, imitating the moves of the most famous surfers. While originally those who were ready to enjoy snowboarding holidays had to look far and wide for a few resorts that would accommodate them, the mainstream acceptance of the sport has by now guaranteed that boarders are actually actively catered to by both major and smaller resorts.

Take for example the Echo Mountain Snowboard and Ski Park which was built in Clear Creek County, Colorado in the year 2005. It is set up with ski lifts and facilities that specifically cater to those guests who are there on snowboarding holidays. More and more ski resorts realize that while skiers still flock to their slopes, it is those powder enthusiasts that are on snowboarding holidays who are really the ones that are increasing. The number of skiers is actually dwindling a bit in the light of this new fun sport!

Of course, snowboarding holidays are not held at the ski slopes as so many who do not closely follow the sport may believe. As a matter of fact, snowboarding holidays are taking place in increasing numbers at snowboarding parks! These parks have specially designed slopes that provide any number of ramps, hills, and other obstacles that make it just a bit more interesting for the average snowboarder. All levels of skill are welcomed, and it is quite frequently the intermediate snowboarder who enjoys this kind of terrain the most. Dubbed “terrain parks” by some, the idea is to allow snow boarders to catch some air – which simply means to make some big jumps to the uninitiated.

If you are not yet quite ready for the terrain parks, and are even unsure about hitting the slopes on your snowboard, perhaps you would like to spend your snowboarding holidays at a snowboarding camp! Most every ski area now offers them, but it is the Mount Hood camp that appears to be a crowd pleaser all the way around. Quite possibly the deciding factor is the versatility of these camps. Children as well as grown ups will be able to learn the sport from the board up, or simply hone their skills to make it to the next level.
